Logline

After the death of his wife, a billionaire begins anonymously helping ordinary people, setting off a chain reaction of kindness that spreads from one life to another in ways even he could never have imagined.

Synopsis

Jonathan Cross has spent most of his life accumulating extraordinary wealth. But after losing his wife, he begins questioning what all that money has actually accomplished.

Then he starts noticing something he had overlooked for years.

Ordinary people helping one another.

A pilot buys breakfast for an old man without knowing the stranger is wealthy himself. A man buys candy for a little boy who is fifteen cents short, only for the boy to later give his last candy bar to a lonely neighbor. Small acts. No cameras. No recognition. Nothing expected in return.

Inspired by what he sees—and by the generosity of his late wife—Jonathan decides that simply writing enormous checks to charities is no longer enough. He wants to meet the people whose lives might be changed. He prepares a collection of plain envelopes and cashier’s checks and sets out to find ordinary people who could use an unexpected break.

But Jonathan soon discovers that the money isn't really the story.

Each person he touches begins touching someone else. A gift becomes another gift. Kindness moves from stranger to stranger, quietly changing lives without anyone realizing how far the original act has traveled.

And Jonathan discovers something his billions could never buy:

A legacy isn't measured by how much you leave behind.

It's measured by what continues after you're gone.

Touched by Lightning is an uplifting drama about grief, generosity, human connection, and the extraordinary consequences of ordinary kindness.
